Champion's Writing is Unique and Spellbinding

David Champion demonstrates his remarkable skills in She Died for Her Sins, a novel about a rich, elderly woman who is a murder victim, and the communist who allegedly killed her. The sixth in the Bomber Hanson series, this book has everything the fans of Bomber Hanson have come to expect: thoroughness on the part of the main character, tenacity and perseverance on the parts of Bomber and the main character, and rhetorical skill and biting humor on the part of Bomber, who reminds me of Billy Flynn from Chicago. This novel also adds in a bit of romance, with Joan Harding, the secretary of the victim's lawyer, Morely Tushman. While admittedly the romance between Joan and the main character is a bit unrealistic- they play duets together and fall in love almost immediately upon meeting, it is still a creative change from the candlelight dinners and sex on the first date themes of romance novels. Besides, the two characters are both musicians on the side, so to that end, their playing duets together makes sense for them. If you are a Bomber Hanson, courtroom drama and/or Chicago fan, if you think communism is a failed doctrine, if you enjoy classical music, and/or if you are high-school aged or older, read this book. -Athalia Stoneback
