Share No Secrets is a fast paced suspense that is centered around the town's hotel, La Belle Riviere. Some of the locals believe that the hotel is haunted but, can that explain all the mysterious events that seem to surround the town's grandest hotel? After famous model, Julianna Brent's body is found by her best friend Adrienne Reynolds and Adrienne's daughter in the closed down hotel, it seems that danger isn't far behind. Adrienne is still reeling from the horrifying discovery of finding her best friend murdered when she figures out her own life may be in danger and learns that everyone has a secret. But is it too late to protect herself and keep her daughter, Skye, safe. Carlene Thompson has created an action filled read with plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end! This story is highly detailed with an array of in depth characters that are smart, funny and engaging. I felt that Ms. Thompson truly captured the feel of small town life and made you care about the characters she created. Share No Secrets is one of the best stories this reader has picked up in a long time and I highly recommend it for anyone who's looking for a book that they can't put down. Artist Adrienne Reynolds and her daughter Skye are in the wrong place at the wrong time. On the grounds of La Belle Riviere, Point Pleasant's grandest hotel, the widowed mother and hometown girl is working on a painting. Adrienne is trying to capture the shunned hotel before the building is demolished. While she works, her dog unexpectedly chases someone into the woods, and Skye follows after the beloved pet. The unknown person gets away, but the dog eventually leads them to a gruesome discovery. Inside one of the hotel rooms, they find Adrienne's friend Julianna Brent dead. It looks as if Julianna was meeting a secret lover. Julianna's affair is just the beginning of the secrets to be revealed. Trying to understand her friend's brutal death, Adrienne begins to delve into the hidden lives of the town's residents. It seems that almost everyone in Point Pleasant has something to hide. As her investigation progresses, strange things start happening to her. Believing she must do what she can to unlock the mystery, she puts herself and Skye in more danger. Adrienne hopes to untangle the web of deceit before it is too late. Share No Secrets is an engaging read. With many twists and turns, it is an intricately crafted whodunit. There are many players, all whom have a shrouded, yet believable life. At times I was frustrated by the large cast of characters, but I was simply impatient. I could not identify the murderer. Whenever I thought I had it figured out, I was lead down another path with new clues. I connected with Adrienne and wanted her out of harms way. The grand hotel of La Belle Riviere, located in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, is on the demolition block because the owner, Ellen Kirkwood feels the hotel is cursed. Too many strange occurrences have happened over the years and better to rid the town of the spooked hotel than to have another "accident" ruin another life. Adrienne Reynolds, Kit Kirkwood and Julianna Brent are best friends and literally grew up on the grounds of the hotel. As Adrienne Reynolds is sketching a portrait for Kit, in remembrance of the Belle, she and her daughter Skye stumble upon a murdered female who appears to be sleeping in one of the rooms. The corpse is none other than Julianna Brent, a former high fashion model. With the Belle closed and off limits to the public, the question becomes, "why was Julianna at the Belle?" As the investigation proceeds, acquaintances of Adrienne and people close to her turn up either dead or assaulted, Adrienne herself is also assaulted and shot at. Only one person knows the identity of the killer but he is killed before his blackmail scheme comes to fruition. With an investigation leading to nowhere and innuendos abound, shocking revelations and secrets are revealed to the surprise of Adrienne and others. SHARE NO SECRETS by Carlene Thompson is a rare "who done it" in the sense that the element of surprise is just that. At no time is the culprit obvious, at least not to me. The author exposes just about everyone's secrets and the possible motives to the point that you wonder if the person in question is the killer. The author's use of imagery is masterful in that every scene described is detailed, whether it is the character's gestures, tone of voice or a landmark. Her voice is fierce and skilled, utilizing wit and catty comments along with eccentric characters, which made for some laugh out loud moments. The familial pasts of the primary and numerous secondary characters help in understanding them present day and adds intriguing elements to the story line. SHARE NO SECRETS did not have an obvious, neat nor tidy ending and kept my curious mind turning. It is an interesting account of murder, mayhem and yes, love! Reviewed by Dawn R. Adrianne Reynolds is finally where she feels she belongs. After living for several years in Los Vegas, while her husband persued a career in comedy, they came home to settle. Now she takes care of her 12 yr old daughter. Her husband is dead, in a motercycle accident. The last 2 years she and Skye have made a home in Point Pleasant,WV. She has her family and her painting. She couldn't be happier, until she discovers her best friend dead, in the old La Belle Riviere hotel. Drew Delaney is an old friend of Adrianne's. He was her first love and he broke her heart by dumping her when he moved to New York. Now Drew is back, he is the editor of the local newspaper. After two failed marriages he knows he has never forgotten her. Drawn togather by the murder at the hotel. They try to understand and find the killer. But this is not just a killing, this is a tragedy. So many lives and hopes and dreams are shattered by this event. And finally at the end nobody really wins. I loved this book, I felt like crying at the end, but I really felt I knew these characters. I was so moved by the ending. I know you will be too. Don't miss it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Share No Secrets was a great read, as are all of Carlene Thompson's novels. She is my favorite mystery author. I was unable to determine the killer in this book, but that is usually the case with her novels...she has the adept ability to totally baffle readers as to "who dun it"...she leads you one way and then totally changes the course of your thinking by implicating someone else. This book was no exception. I cannot wait for her next novel to be released...Put this book on your "must read" mystery list and be sure to locate copies of her past novels as well...you will not be disappointed!
