Easy-to-follow guide to free weights for women

This book helps you discover what body shape you have and provides different weightlifting workouts for each type. The correct techniques are well-explained for those who aren't familiar with them, but good advice is also given for the experienced weightlifter. Alternatives to weights are given at the end of the book in case you don't have the equipment at home or if you're traveling. Photographs of the weight training exercises are provided so you can see how to do them with good form.

This book is fantastic!!!

I'm not at all threatened like some women are at the fitness models in the book. They are a prime example of the fitness lifestyle! Some of the recipies are so-so, but the training tips are proven. I 1st read this book in 1999 and could not put it down. I went from size 16 to a size 5 in about 6 months. Diet is key of course. I had my baby and gained it all back and got lazy. I just rediscovered this book and now I'm back on my fitness routine and it's making a HUGE difference. Very motivational book if it can get a lazy doff like me up and doing 60 minutes of cardio again. :D

Shape Training

I have been following this book exactly as it says for about 4 weeks now. I was seeing and feeling results within the first two weeks. It is the best. The women in it are very real and aren;t at all manly looking. It shows that any body type can achieve what those women have.I like that it gives examples of the certain women that were size 14's and up that got into shape training and are now in the best shape imaginable. I reccomend this book above any others.

Blueprint for a buff body!

This book gives a blow by blow account of what you need to do to build a tight firm physique. First you determine your body shape. Then it recommends exercises to best achieve your objectives. Though many of the exercises are suited for gym equipment, at home modifications are also offered. The book offers a complete section on nutrition with recipes. It also gives sample menu plans and suggestions for Shape training during pregnancy. I really enjoy the book. However, I did find a few of the recipes somewhat tasteless and I would have liked a few more modifications on the workouts for the at home exerciser. Other than than its well worth the price.

Designing an effective program for women starts here.

As a strength training professional, I heartily recommend this book as a great place to start your journey to your muscular fitness goals. Its greatest value is the identification of specific regimens for specific body types. Every woman is different and should be trained according to her frame and metabolic tendencies. Kennedy and Greenwood-Robinson have done a very admirable job at provide great examples from the major body types and the pictures are tasteful and inspiring. Good work!
