A Wonderful Getaway...

I love Tess Farraday's work and I love romances set in the West, with its character and rich history, which Ms. Farraday uses to the fullest. Characterizations, description, details, and believeable dialogue were all well-done in this book, adding immensely to the plot. This is a must-read for fans of supernatural romances.

An entertaining escape to the old west

As a newcomer to Nevada, I immensely enjoyed reading Tess Farraday's book, Shadows in the Flame. Not only does it feature likable characters, an engaging story line and vivid images, I felt like I was learning about the history of the region. I will always think of Molly Gallagher during future trips to Virginia City.

Romance and mystery with a touch of old west history

Tess Farraday has woven a great story of love and mystery with some history of the Comstock area. "Shadows in the Flame" is a entertaining story that kept me involved to the end. I found myself walking the streets of Virginia City with the characters and feeling a part of the time. The book is well worth your time. Be prepare to enjoy.

Very haunting western/supernatural romance

In 1861 Virginia City, Nevada, Molly Gallagher and her younger sister Poppy survive on her reading the palms of her customers. The townsfolk, especially the ladies, think Molly is nothing short of a prostitute. This harsh indictment rose out of fear of her witchy powers. Molly has resigned herself that she will never be married because of her devilish powers and her low standing in the community. Everything suddenly changes when Rose, the ghost of Moll's mother, returns to town to see what has become of her two darling children. Rose wants her daughter to find the love of a lifetime and will do whatever it takes to ensure that happens. She selects a handsome stranger, Mark Daywell, who asks Moll to watch his cats for him. Reluctantly, Moll accepts the felines, but tries her best to stay away from the roguish Cornishman. Rose, the cats, her sister, and her friends push Moll and Day constantly together and soon they fall in love. However, before they can enjoy a lifetime of nights together, Day has to overcome a past that threatens to destroy their budding relationship. SHADOWS IN THE FLAME is an interesting blending of elements from the supernatural romance with the western romance. The mix works because of the wide range of genuinely drawn persona making up the supporting cast. The story line is exciting and the lead characters are charming, but it is Tess Farraday's talent that makes the readers feel that they truly are interacting with a ghost and a western town filled with Civil War era individuals.
