The second greatest epic I've ever read

I read the avatar series about 8 years ago.The strong well developed characters of Cyric,Kelemvor,Midnight, and Adon became some of my favorite characters in fantasy.. This epic story has it all and is by far one of the greatest stories ever told.. Fzoul and Bane are cool villains you may actually find yourself rooting for.. Anyway,If you haven't read this series and are a fantasy lover, please go check this out.You won't be disappointed.. Highly recommended indeed.

AMAZING TRILOGY!!!

Definitely a great fantasy epic and one of my personal favorites, The Avatar Trilogy- Shadowdale, Tantras, and Waterdeep, is about the Time of Troubles when the Gods walked the Earth (in this case Toril). The books are so incredibly well written that the reader feels that they have been transported to another plane of existence and are actually present among the characters, seeing what they see, feeling what they feel, sensing what they sense. The authors have truly outdone themselves and have presented us with a masterpiece of literature the likes of which we have seen only in JRR Tolkien?s work, RA Salvatore's The Dark Elf and Icewind Dale trilogies, and in authors Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends trilogies. Love, honor, bravery, magic, and heroes are all about. In conclusion, it's what Fantasy reading SHOULD be. A GREAT trilogy indeed and a must read along with James Lowder's Prince of Lies and Troy Denning's Crucible: The Trial of Cyric! DON'T MISS IT!!!

First Book, great one!

I have read this book many times, and each time I lijed it more. The book shows the strugles of four men fighting for the destiny of the world and it's Gods, wich have fallen from heaven becouse of the evil of some of them. The book open a Serie (wich will end with Crucible, the Trial of Cyric the Mad) about the Gods of Faerun and his worshipers. Its great to know more about those who seldom appear in the others book but in shouts of war, or of surprise or fear. And, even if you aren't fascinated with the idea of seeing gods walking like mortals all around faerun, the book itself its Great! It has a great plot, and the characters aren't the so-often heroic and perfect paladins or great mans, pure souls. Great book to read (and the four novels that follow this one).

Execelent Book

This book is an excelent addition to your FR library, the characters were outlined wery well, and the plot was enthralling, I would read this book a second time if i had the chance. A great starting point for a first time FR reader.

The start of a great trilogy.

I'm a hard core D & D fan, yet I was kind of hesitant to buy this book. Ya see, my town has a small library, and I could count the number of Forgotten Realms books they have on one hand. So if I want to read a book, I usually have to buy it. I must say that I was pleasently surprised. I found the story great, and the characters deep and involving. Most people complain about a book having too much talk, or action, or not enough of both. This book has it all. A must read for any D & D fan!
