Nelson's Compact Series: Compact Bible Commentary

This is exactly what I expected. It is compact and basic, covering the fundamentals well. Verse by verse commentary with some extra,'in depth' commentaries thrown in. This book will be sufficient for the average individual who just wants to understand the Bible better. It would also be helpful to those teaching basic Bible classes or Sunday school. another fine compact reference tool from nelsons that is easy to use. it's small enough to take any where and provides solid information and definitions to the people, places, books, settings and teachings of the bible. it even explains important themes, terms and doctines, such as conversion, imputation, election, predestination and justification etc. while what i have seen so far for the definitions is good, i did not like... can,t be beat for the price, content and compact size. this is my all time favorite "quick reference", first to go too commentary. it is a condensed version of nelson's new illustrated bible commentary that is small enough to be taken any place so will always be available, and having a verse-by-verse explanation of every book in the bible you get better insight than you would from a more general chapter- by-chapter edition... This commentary has been useful for clarification on minor issues. The word studies and cross-references are insightful and helpful. The commentary does not include the "maps, photos, illustrations" that are mentioned on the back cover; they must be found in other titles of the Compact Series.
