Best Overall View on Raising Self-Esteem

As a counselor, I found Gael Lindenfield's book on enhancing Self Esteem the best of its genre. Gael Lindenfield provides an uplifting, inspirational and effective program for anyone wishing to affirm their self-worth, without relying on formulas or slogans... And she covers the relevant aspects of self-esteem while managing to avoid bogging down in theoretical rhetoric. Her therapuetic writing style is easy to listen to and magnificent to work with - a kind of "inspirational realism" combined with deep intellectual insight and a magnificent sense of humour. It reaches the core issues most humans experience and leaves no senses wanting. No wonder, as her recommendations are based on her down-to-earth experience in therapeutic counseling -- GREAT counseling. A bonus: none of the mumbo-jumbo or self-promoting theoretical jargon many of today's "self-help" writers indulge in.A really effective book, a real book, for real people. She writes as any great therapist practices -- with optimistic practicality and sensibly appealing exercises that enhance one's self-esteem. This is no quick fix/mumbo jumbo new age self-esteem enhancer. It is an enjoyable and workable guide to valuing one's self. It's a book to benefit the reader, and not the author's ego. In summary, Gael's book takes the cake on writings designed to help raise Self-Esteem. It's light (but not lightweight), practical (yet deep), and deep (without drowning in theory and circumstance). Such writing helps readers gain their self-esteem AND self-dependence. THE BOOK on Self-Esteem.Connie Ball,Aesthetician and Personal CoachAustralia

An effective and interesting book

If you haven't read any of Gael Lindenfeild's books in the past, this is a good one to get you started. I have been working as a Psychologist for several years in Dublin. What impressed me was the postive response I got from clients when they read this book. My main problem was getting the book back! I could never have enough copies to lend. Gael Lindenfield has a great approach to a difficult area. I enjoy how the first half of the book explains esteem, and the second half offers simple steps on how to create change in one's life. So many clients would remark how they gained insight and an 'eduaction' about themselves as well as others in their lives. I hope you find it as interesting and as helpful as many others I know have.
