Wonderful book!

I am not very good at expressing myself in words so I don't know how many people this will be helpful too, but I just had to rate this book! It had absolutely EVERYTHING I love about romance books. Alpha Male, not so stubborn and hard-headed female lead (as you find with so many romance books), great plot, and it is just an overall great read!

Seeing Eye Mate

The mates of shape shifters are being brutalized and murdered in and around Prime Caelan Graham's territory. Unable to detect any scent of the killer, Caelan and his twin Eli are at a dead end in their investigation. It is while they are at a bar discussing the case and Cael's need to let off some sexual energy that Eli first notices the woman who just walked in. It is while Eli is making plans to meet the woman that Cael first detects her scent and every hormone he has in his body starts to tingle. Cael's wolf has finally found his mate and it is only a matter of time before she is lying replete beneath him. Tiernan Jones' car has mysteriously broken down and she decides to wait for the tow truck in the bar across the street. Instantly, Tiernan feels that she is being stared at and looks around for the source. She finds it alright, but almost thinks she is dreaming. There are two gorgeous men staring at her like she just might be dinner. Finally the tow truck shows up but the operator is smarmy and Tiernan just is not comfortable. Unable to bring herself to accept a ride from Mr. Scary, Tiernan is surprised and secretly relieved when one of the men from the bar shows up. After introductions are made, Tiernan's car decides to cooperate and she drives away. She doesn't have a clue that she just drove away from her destiny. Caelan hunts for and finally finds Tiernan a few days later and shows up at her house. While she might be surprised at his audacity, she is surprised more at her own body's reaction to Caelan's nearness and scent. Hormones kick in and Tiernan is lost in the wonder that is Caelan. Add to the picture a dead grandmother who talks to Tiernan in her head and the fact that Tiernan is having visions, the road ahead of Caelan and Tiernan is going to be rocky, especially when Tiernan's visions implicate Caelan's twin as the mate murderer. Seeing Eye Mate is brilliant. Annmarie McKenna has woven a tale of suspense, intrigue, delicious naughtiness, with a bit of comedy thrown in for good measure. Caelan's primordial instincts were a sight to behold and I found myself almost jealous of Tiernan. Alas, Caelan was not mine to keep as he only had eyes for his mate. Tiernan is strong, sexy, and I found myself laughing out loud at her conversations with her grandmother. Seeing Eye Mate kept me turning the pages and I couldn't put it down until I read the final word. Just when I thought I had the storyline figured out, I realized I was wrong. I love when an author can keep me from guessing the plot and Annmarie McKenna did just that very thing, much to my chagrin. I have happily placed Seeing Eye Mate on my keeper shelf and have decided that Annmarie McKenna is one author I want to keep reading! Talia reviewed for Joyfully Reviewed

GREAT!

Tieran is strong, capable, and a great match for Alpha male and Prime of the pack. Great start on a great series. Can't wait to read the rest.

I "wolfed" down this book

In Seeing Eye Mate, Annmarie McKenna combines shapeshifters and mystery in a darn sexy tail ... uh, I mean tale. Caelan Graham is the Prime (the Alpha male) of his pack, but only because he beat his twin brother, Eli, into the world by two minutes. Except for that stroke of fate, like the oldies song from the 1960s, Eli would be Leader of the Pack. Lately, someone has been killing female mates. Though no women have been murdered in Caelan's pack, the crimes have seriously affected pack society and could explode into full-blown investigations, threatening the security and secrecy of all of the packs. While Eli and Caelan have a beer and discuss how to discover the killer, a woman walks into the bar. Eli sees her first and more or less calls a lustful dibs. However, Caelen scents her, too, and knows immediately she is his mate, meaning Eli has to back off. Jeez, can't he catch a break at all? Tieran Jones has wandered into the bar because her car broke down right outside the door. The very last thing on her mind is meeting a man, much less a male wolf. Tieran can't shapshift, but she does have special talents: she has visions. She's also a medium, at least as far as communicating with her grandmother, dead for ten years. Her experience with men has been painful because they see her extrasensory powers as weird instead of special. She doesn't know it (though Granny tries to tell her) that Caelan is different. As her mate, he will trust and protect her with his life. The sexual pull is so strong between them, they share wild monkey sex (if a wolf can have monkey sex) before they share secrets. By then, well, who cares if a guy runs around on four legs now and then, or a lady sees murders in her mind if the sex is really good? Unfortunately, when Tieran envisions the killings, what she sees points to Eli as the bad wolf. Could he be jealous enough of his brother to be causing all this mayhem? Does he covet being head of the pack? Only when Tieran's life is endangered and Caelan is rushing to save her does the truth emerge. I thoroughly enjoyed Seeing Eye Mate. The male characters were unabashedly Alpha, with all the machismo and attitude the word implies. Tiernan doesn't take any guff, though. She also enjoys the sex--demands the sex, by golly--and that's a nice change from the coy, maidenly heroine we see so often. Seeing Eye Mate is the first of two books. Look for Checkmate, coming soon from Samhain Publishing.

5 Klovers! Courtesy of CK2S Kwips & Kritiques

'Seeing Eye Mate' was my Recommended Read for the month of October! Tieran has resigned herself to living alone - with the exception of her Grandmother, who just happens to have been dead for ten years! A clairvoyant, Tieran's visions can be set off with the merest touch, making dating quite a trick. Add to that the fact that most men run in the other direction when they learn of her psychic gifts, and she has given up on love. Caelan would like nothing better than to find his mate - just not right now. As Pack Prime, it's his duty to find the shape shifter who has been murdering the female mates in various packs before it's too late. When Caelan meets his destiny in the form of Tieran Jones one night, his time starts running out, knowing the murderer's ultimate target would be the mate of the Pack Prime. Tieran's visions might be the only way to save them all, but they seem to point to Caelan's twin brother as the killer! Will he choose his mate, or his brother? Seeing Eye Mate is only the second published work of Annmarie McKenna, and yet her writing skill is that of a seasoned author. With her tale of paranormal romance, McKenna proves she is no one hit wonder, knocking another one out of the ball park! Pairing a hunky shape shifter like Caelan with a clairvoyant like Tieran affords the author the opportunity for an easy acceptance between the two lovers, with only slight trepidation regarding each other's paranormal abilities. With this obstacle almost dealt with, the couple is left to struggle with their own fears and doubts, or rather, Tieran's fears and doubts. While staged as a paranormal romance, the adversity we see is very human, rendering the story relatable to the average reader on a more personal level. We are left with a story that satisfies those of us who enjoy a good supernatural story whose problems can be easily understood and identified with. That said, `Seeing Eye Mate' does not lack for any of the steamy love scenes you would expect in a shape shifter tale, and Caelan earns a place at the top of the list of unexpectedly sensitive sexy alpha males we all dream of finding. Tieran herself is a strong independent woman who is utterly confused by Caelan's appearance in her life, and her own feelings about him. I would wager there are many women who will identify with Tieran's inner turmoil concerning her relationship with Caelan. The icing on the cake is that we have an exciting mystery underneath it all. McKenna once again proves herself adept with subtle twists and turns in the story, littering the saga with clues that only begin to coalesce as the mystery finally unfolds, and leaving no doubt that there isn't a superfluous scene in the novel.
