See You in Yasukuni

I have just finished this story and being a student of Zen, I have long wondered about the Japanese military mind set that allowed them to produce such superb warriors. The characters in this story are totally convincing and reveal facets of human behavior totally foreign to my way of thinking. Example: to the warrior monk the only purpose of desire is to train the will. To have a true desire, to have the ability to fulfill it, and to intentionally deny yourself this desire, trains the will and is the true reason for desire. Wonderful writer.
