Secrets of Shamanism: Tapping the Spirit Power Within You

This is a short read but was magnificent and many factors revolving shamanism. It doesn't touch much into medicines and rituals as well as items used (it explains very few) but rather takes a dive into the mindset of a shaman and how incorporating such a mindset into ones everyday life might change ones experience/perception of life for the better. It also list some ways how the shaman mindset can be beneficial to a person's everyday life without strict worship, praise or practices but still demands some bit of attention and respect if to be used properly and appropriately. As well as still providing suggestions for path if you still seek to follow directly in the foot steps of a shaman not elaborately though, everything else is crystal clear. I loved this book because it helped me answer some questions I've been having about myself as well as point out the causes to some underlying problems as well and solutions on how to resolve the issues. It's great for growth and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone that's interested in spirituality or shamanism or simply for personal growth.

Secrets of Shamanism is an interesting and informative read with loads of meditation and journey ideas for the reader to enjoy. The authors have done an excellent job explaining how one can utilize shamanism as a wisdom tool and a means to stimulate personal insight.

This is an execellent guide to beginning a practice in shamanic journeying. The writer weaves story with information and instruction in an easy to read and captivating format. This book contains so much valuable information I already plan to read it again and will most likely use it as an ongoing guide for my shamanic work.

I keep a copy of this on my bookshelf for reference and study and recommend it to my friends and my sons. One son read it, did the exercises and found it an excellent self study in shamanism. I have worked and traveled with the Stevens' and give them my highest praise and recommendation. They are living examples of teachers who 'walk their talk.' David M. Ross, LCSW

Out of the many books on shamanism I own- this is the one I go to the most. I keep several on hand to give to friends. Written by a psychologist, the book is full of clear, safe, practical and powerful techniques. If you want to have a shamanic experience or focus on a specific question - search no further. The layout is great- 1) A clear concise description of the skill 2) A short (one page or less) story/example of a person applying shamanism in an every day life situation 3) A description of how to do it. and 4) A simple numbered step list/chart to make it clear. It's so easy to jump right in. I am sick of people writing about their shamanic experiences when any body can jump right in and do it themselves! Yes you!
