Great Read!

It has been a while since a book has so engrossed my every waking moment. I went to sleep last night with it, and when I awoke this morning had to get to the end to find out what happened. While working toward the end, I went to the kitchen thinking about eating my breakfast while reading the last passages, and found the papaya which I had been looking forward to enjoying this morning.......well, when I opened it, I found that the seeds has started to sprout and the insides did not look like what I am used to......so I cut a piece of the outside of it, cut the skin away and tasted the fruit......with great trepidation......I was spooked......it tasted fine, though I was not prepared to eat into the middle. I ended up peeling the skin, taking the thin layer around the outside and eating just that, not wanting to touch or do anything with that which was closer to the inside which had become a sort of clear glossy dark orange color as opposed to the soft light melon/like color of the outer portions. All this to say......I found the book to be hard to put down. It grabbed me from the beginning and kept my imagination going throughout. I loved the method of story telling you used. I hope that I will be able to look at my own plant life without fear soon, and for that matter take comfort in the new dweller in my balcony. A curly tailed lizard which is constantly pooping, and getting bigger and bigger........at least there are no animal eating plants out there yet....... So.....the best thing I can do, is go take my shower and get on with my life while waiting for the next book. Can't wait. Thank you for sharing this wonder with me. Thank God for your "gift." What an imagination you have, how wonderful that this joy of yours is one also found in your beautiful mate and can share each other's joys.......such a wow! I will share this book with friends and suggest they go online for their own copy. Can't wait for the next one!

Fear Your Rhododenron

You'll never look at a plant the same way again, but this book is so much fun it's worth it. Masterman writes about the exotic jungles of Belize like he's lived there, which he has. A "Survivor" plot where the stakes are much higher than any reality show. . .Just enough Crichton-like research on Mayan archeology and myth and biology to make it all seem real. . .an inventive mystery and perfect pacing of suspense that mounts into a dramatic resolution. . .this action/adventure yarn asks bigger questions about the uneasy balance of survival between the plant and animal kingdoms. As the opening quote says, you'll "Love winter, when the plant says nothing."
