As an English teacher I sometimes get tired of reading intellectual stuff and want some "fluff"! Phyllis Whitney's books are enjoyable because each one introduces the reader to a different time and place: Key West, San Francisco, Virginia, Norway, etc. Sea Jade is one set in the past, so readers of historical fiction may enjoy it more than her contemporary novels.
