Scythe

Loved this book. The interesting part was life is not something that is fragil anymore. You can live forever, unless you have been chosen to be gleaned. A group of elite people have been gleaning people to keep the balance in the population. Every year a scythe takes an apprentice to teach and hopefully be selected to be a new scythe.

Great story! Very interesting read.

I loved this book way more than I thought I would when I first picked it up. The gleaning journals on the pages before each chapter were filled with thought-provoking lines from other Scythes, and I really enjoyed their views on humanity and the "mortality age." Throughout the novel I couldn't help but wonder what life would be like if death was "the exception and not the rule." The whole idea of society approved killers was very unique and I couldn't put it down! Definitely worth the read!
