Book Overview

In this eagerly anticipated sequel to the classic bestseller In Search of Schrodinger's Cat, John Gribbin digs even deeper into the mysterious and confounding world of quantum mechanics. Gribbin takes infinitely complex, mind-bending experiments, brings them to life, and makes them accessible to the lay reader. Under his deft guidance, we can begin to grasp the fundamental riddle of today's quantum mechanics: how a single photon can be seen going...

Schrodinger Strikes Again!!

Schrodinders Kittens by John Gribben is an excellant book for anyone seeking to understand the Quantum mysteries.

In Search of Schrödinger's Kittens: A Myth for our Times

I have now read this book four or five times. Although Dr. Gribbin repeats himself a bit throughout the text, he has a purpose in doing so; the subject matter doesn't conform to our everyday experience, and by restating certain issues in different ways, he ensures that the reader "gets" it. I especially enjoyed his concluding chapters; he actually went out on a limb to suggest a viable explanation for quantum physics, based on John Cramer's interpretation of the Wheeler-Feynman theory... something that very few science writers are willing to do. And he writes well enough that (over several readings), it becomes understandable. I would like Dr. Gribbin to expand those last few chapters into an entire book so that I may understand it even better.

Gribbin is the best

Nobody is better than John Gribbin at writing easy to understand books without leaving out the serious information =) This book is great for anyone, whether you're not a science buff and you want to be one, or you already know this stuff and just want another viewpoint.

it was a great book

this book is soooo good! although i'm only 13 yrs. old, i found this book highly informative on quantum theory, quantum electrodynamics, and the special and general theories of relativity. the way John Gribbin uses analogies to compare quantum mechanics to everyday life, is just amazing.

A fascinating continuation of the original with new twists.

This book provides even more background of the development of the "new physics," but also takes a turn into the philisophical implications of a theory so opposed to our notion of the real world as is quantum theory. Not only does it lead to amazement at the findings that have been made in recent experiments,it also plants the seeds for an analysis of science as a product of the uniquely human perspective. At the conclusion I was not only awestruck, but stimulated and intrigued as well. The book is a great experience, but if you are not willing to put some miles on your thinking cap don't bother.
