This is a great resource for parents and counselors who want to help children overcome shyness. This is NOT another book that just discusses the topic of shyness in children. It actually gives you activities your child can do to help overcome shyness - 42 in fact ! The activities are research validated appoaches and are written in a clear and child-friendly manner. My boys loved the "Pennies in a cup" activity which demonstrates how practice builds skills and self confidence. The activities to shape eye contact, body language and speaking with confidence are wonderful. This book is just a great training tool. I will encourage my boys to continue to develop and practice the behaviors taught in this book.

Some parents think there's nothing they can do about shy children - and that it's just a part of their personality. But children can be taught to make eye contact and be more confident in group settings, as well as understand their behavior and that of others. This is a great resource for parents as well as counselors, and it provides plenty of hands-on activities for kids to practice overcoming their shyness.
