Book Overview

It was like lightning striking, the first time they looked into each other's eyes: Gray Eagle, the captured Indian brave, and Alisha, the beautiful young settler. As the proud Oglala warrior was being tortured by his white captors, only Alisha seemed to notice that he was a human being -- handsome and strong, who took her breath away. But if Alisha could have read Gray Eagle's thoughts, she would have been even more disturbed -- because from the moment...

Savage Ecstasy: a rebuttal to... d'ann wallace

The story of Gray Eagle and Alisha is remarkably told and weaves the cultures of a Lakota Sioux Warrior and a 'pale face' young woman into a beautiful tale. For you to say that Gray Eagle "behaved badly/wrongly" is ludicrous! Are you saying that you would not exhibit this same type of behaviour if you were being held captive and being mistreated? Then you truly hold yourself above it all, don't you. Alisha sees Gray Eagle for the Warrior that he is, yes; but she also sees him as a human being filled with a great spirit for life and the fact that her people are treating him like less than an animal or an even lower life form is repulsive to her and it hurts her heart and soul to see him being so mistreated. It has been a great many years since I first read the tale of a love that would exist for a great many moons; and while I read I could see the land change from that of lush and green to what the Lakota Sioux now live on at the current 'reservation'. The Lakota Sioux used the entire buffalo when they went hunting. They made robes from its fur, they used the brains to treat the leather and then used that leather for their teepee's and shoes and softened it even further for their clothes. The entire Gray Eagle/Alisha series is one that chronicles a deep history of the Sioux Nation and how one man and one woman, from two opposing and warring factions found and formed a true and abiding love that would last for eternity. I loved the series and am looking forward to reading the books again.

So good!!

This book isn't just romantic crab. Janelle makes it so realistic and exiting to learn about an indianchief's honor, pride and love, and their laws and life. Only a woman such as Alisha could evoke those strong emotions in him which forces him to go against his principels. He was a wondeful indian hero, and I can't wait to get my hands on the next sequel to follow his devlopment and Aishas life with him. Don't miss this if you want a story with both excitment, love, passion and realism.

WONDERFUL

My sister got me started reading Indian romance novels. And although I enjoy them as a whole, most are filled with unbelievable mush and unrealistic plots. BUT, Savage Ecstasy is completely different. It is totally believable. You would believe you were reading a real account of a white woman who fell in love with an Indian. Their trials and triumphs are so powerful it had me crying numerous times. I LOVED IT!!!! Once you read it you must read the following sequels.

Colorful, Dramatic, and Full of Feeling

This book pulled me in from the beginning.A woman falling in love with an indian at the wrong time of the century. Janelle Taylor leaves nothing out about their trials and tribulations. This is one gripping book you won't be able to put down!
