A Love That Lasts

Jessica Taylor was a sweet loving young woman, her twin sister Josphine who is anything but, she had to have had to have everything Jessica had, including her fiance William. So Jo stole William from Jessica, but we never get to meet this low life, not only that, we find out that Jo has been sleeping with him for months and having found out she was pregnant William marries her. Jo had a little girl, and she was bored almost as soon as the child was born. She left William alone to come to meet Colt Irons the new man in Jessica's life. Only Colt doesn't give her as much as the time of day. Jessica had been the product of a broken home, when her workalolic father moved to The US but drove his wife away because he had no time for her or his kids. Jessica's Mum had an affair, but she only did it to make her husband see what he had to lose, unfortunatly he didn't see anything. And Jessica didn't find out the real reason for the marriage break up until she was 24 yrs-old. Jessica stayed with her father, and Jo went back to England with her mother. Jessica has a close relationship with her cousin Carol. Carol talks Jessica unto taking on a booth for a church roof, selling kisses for a pound. But Carol made a sign that said 'Satisfaction Guaranteed', and when Jessica saw the sign she was sorry she had agreed to run the stall. Colt Irons sees the sign and he puts a 20 pound note in the box. It didn't take him long to fall in love with Jessica, but he wouldn't face up to the love he felt for her. Colt's secret problem; a long time ago he had been about to marry Netta a wild beautiful gypsy sort of woman with black hair and fiery brown eyes, they had lived together for over a year, Netta told Colt her life growing up had been rough, her father had been an alcolholic, and her mother took in lodgers to pay the bills, who stayed over one night and were gone the next morning. It wasn't until Netta aborted their baby and had a problem with the abortion. She started to hemorhage. Becky his young sister was staying with them at the time. Netta called Colt wanting him to come home and take her to hospital, Colt told Netta he couldn't get to her because he was out of the city, but he called an ambulance for her. Netta canceled the ambulance and persuaded Becky to take her to the hospital. Becky had just started learning to drive. Just a couple of streets away they had a head-on collision that killed both Netta and Becky. Colt learned later that Netta parents were just ordanary people and not at all what Netta had told them. It seems that they had been having problems with Netta for years, and couldn't understand or control her. Because of this Colt was afraid of committing himself to Jessica, yet he told Jessica she needed to leave her 'Ivory Tower' and start living again and not let watery William stop her from being with him as a lover. I loved the fact that Jessica tells Colt know he needs to take his own advise. From the back of the book: 'Seduced by the boss..
