Ill-tempered and ungrateful at the beginning, he realizes he has to stay in her home until his leg is mended. Well-intentioned Sara soon learns that her guest is becoming more unwelcome as the days pass by. 'Sara's Family' is a tender contemporary romance that leaves the reader feeling optimistic. The story line is entertaining with the secondary characters adding an authentic feel to mountain life. Harrison, stodgy and rude at the beginning became 'Harry', accepting and willing to help others. He opened up to the children and befriended the mountainfolk. Sara started to grow feelings for him but worried that they could never have a permanent relationship because his life revolved around a career in New York and her life belonged in North Carolina. You'll have to read the book to see the evolution of their love and how they solve their problems. The story is heart-warming; read it on a day when you need something to uplift your spirit. Written in 1992, it is not dated. I am adding this to my book shelf of keepers.
