The author, Sammie Smimmo, was a multi-millionaire who lost it all while struggling in a marriage to a man addicted to drugs and women. Though she divorced him, she fell into a deep depression and moved from a mansion to a tool shed. There, she was diagnosed with cancer and had a double mastectomy. Many other fiery trials assaulted her, though she came through with an abiding faith in God.The second half of the book is about God's commission for her to go across the nation for fifty-two weeks to reach out to those on the streets and in missions for the homeless. She and Kathy Gava met many others along the way who were also going through fiery trials.
