Salems lot

Very poor condition, very yellow, unreadable.

Wrong cover.

While the shipping was fast and the book is great, I really wanted a specific cover and thought that what I had picked out is what I was going to get. Covers matter to some of us book nerds.

A bit of a slow burn but it definitely ramps up

Picked this because a lot of people had it as their favorite Stephen king novel and after reading it it’s easy to see why. I would still say mine is “The Stand”

Would love to actually review

But I never received this order...

Wrong Cover!

I thought that I was receiving the book pictured. Guess that is what I get for thinking. I have the book already that was sent to me. The one that is pictured with Nosferatu is by far is the best read. A little more details are in this book

Fair condition...not good.

I would not consider this book in good condition. It was fair at best. The cover was torn and very worn, pages very yellowed and brittle.

Great Book-Terrible Condition

So this is probably King's best work. Period. The only complaint is that the prior owner of this book was a complete slob, seriously had to shake book out for crumbs of Doritos. Gross.

'Salem's Lot 1975

Writer Ben Mears has come to 'Salem's Lot after a childhood trauma as a boy caused him to leave. When he meets Susan Norton, and they fall in love, Mears has to battle vampires who now live in the haunted Marsten House, that was left abandoned for a long time. When the inhabitant of the Lot fall victim to the Un-Dead, Mears, and Mark Petrie, a boy who has battled the vampires, struggle to see out the next day, unaware of the horror that has afflicted everyone there. 'Salem's Lot, the full length horror novel based on the short story Jerusalem's Lot, from the 1978 collection, Night Shift, creates a sense of small town America from the 1970's that is missing these days. It is the second horror novel that Stephen King got published, after Carrie, 1974. To me, 'Salem's Lot is King's masterpiece. Robert Helliger, Narre Warren, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Best of Stephen King!

Truly terrifying, very dark and eerie. I loved it and will re read again soon. True horror and suspense. My favorite from S.King!

Classic King!

This is my second re-read. The plot continues to keep the reader gripped and on the edge of the seat!

One of the King's best

I was in my early 20's when this book first came out. I was already of fan of Kings, having read Carrie. This book did not disappoint. In fact, it scared me more than any book I'd read before and even more than some after. It made me a lifetime fan of Mr. King. I can vividly remember reading one particularly hair-raising, goose bump inducing scene sitting in my Mother's living room. Lights on, TV going, people close by - in other words, a completely non scary atmosphere. Just as I got to a really intense part, the automatic air freshner my mother had, chose that time to emit a spray - that little, "Pshsss" sound was enough to make me literally jump up off the chair. I was THAT into it - my reaction to the unexpected sound coupled with the amazing writing was enough to know I was truly in the hands of a master.

This book is the best!!!!!

Even though this book was written in 1975, after all these years the book has really taken a toll on me. The plot is really good as well as the mini-series that came out four years after the book came out. King's second book is really scary and well worth the read. If you have not read any other novels by the Master Of Horror, then read Salem's Lot and I'll guarantee you, you'll really love it!!!!!!!!!

The Gothic Elements of V.C. Andrews and Stephen King

The gothic element in American literature spans many genres, and has woven an ever present thread from Washington Irving's famous equestrian, all the way down to Stephenie Meyer's interpretation of the heirs of Vlad the Impaler. Leveraging the fine works of previous generations, two Twentieth Century American authors, Stephen King, and V.C. Andrews, created characters and settings which distilled the gothic element to a rarified degree.
