Witty, Humble and Wise

Said and Done, besides being a fantastic title, perfectly captures the tone of this book - pithy, witty, and a wonderful portrait of a warm human being. Oh yes - and a famous one, but the way McGough tells it, you catapult along with him into what happens next and before you know it you're touring the world. (The tours come complete with wonderful fear of flying moments). If you're lucky enough to have heard his Liverpudlian accent, then you'll hear the whole book that way. But even if you haven't you won't miss a thing - it's all in the writing. He's a poet through and through, keenly observant, economical in description, naturally surreal at times, but always brutally honest especially about himself. Enjoy this treasure of an autobiography!
