Running Dead

Jeremiah Buie knew what his police superiors thought of him. They didn't like him. They didn't like the way he bent the rules to lay down the law. They didn't like the way he took their orders and trahsed them. They didn't like his amazingly perfect record that kept them from getting rid of him. His enemies were everywhere. But now the son of a police major's fiancee had been savagely slain after a brutal sexual assault. And the major picked Buie to head the hunt for the perp. Buie knew that this time nobody was going to keep him from taking the gloves off... as he went after a vicious madman killer who had racked up too many victims and followed too many agendas for terror and murder....

It was an entertaining 300 pages, a good read if you don't need 100% credibility.
