Don't miss this one!

Remind me not to start a book by Christina Dodd until I've got lots of time. I read this book in the grocery store check-out, at my in-laws, while I was waiting for my kids to get out of school. I finally got time to myself after the kids went to bed, and was up until midnight finishing it. Dougald was the darkest hero I've read of Dodd's, but he was so focused on Hannah it was hot and sexy beyond belief. I need ice!

c.d. always good and getting better

well, what can i say? this one is definately a winner.nine years before the story begins, hannah setterington, ran away from an unhappy marriage. during those nine years she manages to make a success of herself. when the story opens, she is manipulated by her estranged husband into returning to him as a companion to his elderly aunt so that he can exact his revenge for her abandonment.i was actually impressed by the emotional depth of the hero, dougald. yes, he was strong and masculine, which is always a plus, but when he exposes his vulnerable side to hannah, the heroine, i was pleasantly surprised. he manages to convey his pain, bitterness, and sorrow as well as exposing hannah's culpability for their unhappiness. this was essential, because throughout their separation and loneliness, dougald always shouldered the blame from her as well as others for their failed marriage. and, the piece de resistance to the whole ball of wax was their physical attraction to one another. hannah and dougald were, in a word, hot, hot, hot! this, my fellow readers, is what makes this a five star review, because without the "spice", this book could have been a total maudlin mess.i wonder how c.d. will top this one and am anxious to find out. happy reading!

A great author does it again!!

This book has such clever twists and turns in the plot, a hero to die for (maybe literally), a spunky heroine and the dotty old aunts who were so funny and touching. Rules of Attraction stands alone, you don't have to read the other two Rules books, but I would. Great series! Great finish!More!

Fabulous storytelling

In 1843 Hannah Setterington sells her very successful business, the Distinguished Academy of Governesses, to accept a job as a companion to an elderly person. Her real reason for going to the countryside is to obtain information about the identity of her father. Hannah hears rumors that the present master of Raeburn Castle murdered his wife, but she can prove otherwise because the new lord is her husband Dougald Peppard. He has searched for her since she ran away over eight years ago and only found her through the money she recently returned to him. He tells her he worried about whether she lived or died, and plans to enact vengeance for her desertion.Hannah agrees to stay after meeting Aunt Spring and her three elderly buddies. An angry Dougald threatens her, but Hannah retaliates with a kiss that shakes up both of them. However, before they can explore their feelings, someone tries to kill the new lord, just as the previous four were murdered in the last few years.Best-selling author Christina Dodd concludes her awesome governess trilogy with a powerful tale starring Hannah. The story line is fast-paced and filled with action while the loose ends from the two previous novels (see RULES OF ENGAGEMENT and RULES OF SURRENDER) are fully tied together in the subplots. The lead couple is a darling duo who hopefully live long enough to share the love that was placed on hold eight years ago. Fans of Victorian romances will relish this exciting tale and be enticed to obtain its predecessors.Harriet Klausner
