Excellent writer but something missing

I very much enjoyed this book. I was going to buy the sequels but my only problem with the book is it just ended, without a conclusion. What happened to the main characters in the book? Did they stay, did they go? I thought, ok I will buy the sequels and find out, but here to find out other people said the sequels left them not knowing the answers either. So I'm passing because it leaves you hanging and there could have been so much more of a happy ending.

Loved it! Can’t wait for the rest of the series to ship!

Although it starts a little slow, this book was amazing! I’m not one to ever crack open a book unless it’s for school but I finished the entire book in three days. It’s a heartwarming lovely story.

Great Series!

i love Christian historical and romance fiction, and this series is up there as my favorite. i've read all three books and i have enjoyed each, but what drew me into the series was Ruby. i love the characters, the story line and her reliance on God no matter the obstacle. i highly recommend this series!

Superior Christian book

I have read several of Lauraine Snelling's books, and have been very disappointed in them. I especially thought "Sisters of the Confederacy" was very poorly written. This one, however, was different. I absolutely LOVED it. In fact, I would read it again. It was well written, had a captivating plot, and made me want to read the rest of the series. I gave the book to my mom to read and she wants to read the next one - my mom is not a reader! I've tried a lot of Christian books, many of which are romances and historical fiction. This is the best one I have found. So please, discard the other negative review and try this book!

Makes you feel like you are there.

Being a North Dakota native this book brings back a feeling of home. The descriptions of the badlands are wonderful. The main character, Ruby, is a strong independent woman who you find your self feeling for, laughing with and cheering on. This book is worth picking up.

Can't wait for the next one!

Nobody weaves a story of American pioneers like Lauraine Snelling. Readers will find no pious, folded-hand telling between these covers. The very prim and very naive Ruby ends up on the unsettled Dakotah frontier to claim her mysterious inheritance, which turns out to be a disreputable establishment-- Dove House-- along with a collection of soiled doves. Ruby's first impulse is to hightail it back to New York, but a deathbed promise seals her fate.Great characters, a rich setting and a rollicking, page-turning plot all insure this will be another winner. I can't wait for the second book in the series.--Wendy Lawton author of Ransom's Mark, Courage to Run, and others in The Daughters of the Faith series.
