A Pattern Book You'll Turn to Again and Again
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 19 years ago
I first got this book about 13 years ago. I think it has gone in and out of print a few times, but it is definitely a keeper. I find myself pulling it off my shelf for inspiration or just to browse through quite often. The first half of the book is a photo of each of the 50 quilts, each one a large star designed for each of the 50 states. The second half is the pattern for each state's star. The author assumes some knowledge of quilt making; be aware this is a book of patterns, not a "learn how to quilt" book. I loved that each pattern was so unique, and you could see each pattern made up as a full-size bed quilt. Sometimes the finished quilt looked different from the pattern because of color placement, but it showed more options that way. I have made two quilts from this book, the Royal Star of Nevada and Kansas. They look great!
Quilters will love this book!

Royal Stars are 1 block, bed-size patterns reminisent of Lone Star or Star of Bethlehem but each star is pieced in a different way. There is a full color picture of each state's quilt, and a pattern for each with templates, not rotary cutting directions. The designs are exciting and unusual. They make me want to dive into my fabric stash and start cutting and sewing, and I bet you will feel the same.
