This volume reports on excavations at the western side of Metchley Roman fort. Aside from the defences themselves, comprising double-ditches and a turf rampart, they uncovered possible evidence of a preparatory construction camp, a palisade trench forming a western annexe which may have been associated with the on-site production of pottery, and the first structural evidence for a civilian settlement at the site.
