Another good story of the hero helping out an old friend whose shipments of goods are targeted by raiders along the Mississippi River. The heists are puzzling and the Trailsman sets out to solve the riddle of who and why is behind the holdups. There are the usual dalliances for the hero's amusements but here the lasses are sisters with no love lost between them. There are a few surprises twists along the way and the Trailsman has the usual close calls with shadowy figures throughout the novel. The New Orleans locales are interesting and spice up a decent read for western fiction fans.
Solid story

From the back cover: "When a pistol-packing blonde beauty pegged Skye Fargo, the Trailsman, as a hired gunslinger out to get her uncle's foreman, it was draw first and ask questions later. Yet by the time he'd tamed the gorgeous young spitfire enough to convince her she was wrong, Fargo was trapped into hunting down the desperadoes who were killing her uncle's men and stealing his cargo from the riverboats. Lured on by the loving promise of double pleasure from both gloriously golden Amber and her voluptuous, raven-haired sister, April, Fargo had no choice but to ried a river of treachery, where every bend hid another bushwacker thirsting for his blood..." This is a well-written story, with the main character Skye Fargo as a more than appealing protagonist--a combination of toughness, intelligence, and cunning. The author also does a good job of fleshing-out the supporting characters so that they seem believable. You never quite know where the end is going to take you, and it comes out a surprise indeed. A lot of the action takes place on steamboats and some in New Orleans, for those of you are interested. Very much recommended. **
