Tempted to give it a 5

I'm currently reading Catherine Coulter's FBI series (in order). Her dialogue writing has improved immensely since the first book. I was surprised that the overall rating for this book was only 3.5 and that's why I'm writing this review. I almost gave it a 5 and it's definitely a 4.5 but I have to give a little room at the top for the really good stuff, don't I? I liked the featured characters in this book and the smattering of supporting characters--good and bad. I would recommend the FBI series to anyone who likes light suspense with a little romance thrown in. Riptide is a good read and I look forward to the next in the series.

Who Kows Best?

RIPTIDE by Catherine Coulter is a fine extension of a smart series, but her I detect a fine hand of an editor who insisted on just a little extra, which failed miserably. The story should have ended when Becca Matlock's problems were resolved, it was a finely paced procedural with tight suspense a stalker adds to any thriller. Two shorter books would have been more satisfying. The additional plot line, late in the story, is a drag that spoils the effect of good story telling. Nash Black, author of SINS OF THE FATHERS and QUALIFYING LAPS.

Who is he??

This will keep you on the edge of your seat until the last page!!But, then they all do. She is such a great writer. I am absolutely hooked.

Loved it!

I loved this book I have read and listened to it several times. The plot was thought out and just when you thought you figured out the ending you would be thrown for a loop. The story is about 27 year old Rebecca Matlock, who was the senoir speech writer for the govenor of New York. She worked for him until she started recieving mysterioius calls from a man telling her to stop sleeping with the governor and only identified himself as her boyfriend. The only thing was she never did sleep with the govenor. Once her mother died and no help from the police she decides to move to Riptide, Maine a small picturesque town, for a safehaven. Though her hideout is soon discovered, by both friends and foes.

A Catherine Coulter Triumph

I automatically buy her books and have since the 1980's for I am never disappointed. Riptide is super. It has been a long time since I read until the wee hours of the morning and then couldn't wait to get home to read some more. The plot does keep one going, the characters are warm, human, likeable, and interesting.I do enjoy the author's way of having people from former books enter into the new story. I cheered when Sherlock and Savich were brought back.Catherine Coulter is really a wonderful author. Most of all I appreciate her humor. It is such a treat to be able to laugh out loud when reading a good book.
