I read this book when I was a kid and I still consider it the best book I ever read. Then again everything was better when you were a kid... but still.
Pathetic...but rewarding

Being an immigrant, picking up the English language took up a few years of my life. This is not only the first book in English that I read in its entirety, but also one which spawned a lifelong enjoyment of reading and education without which a Chinese lawyer would have otherwise never risen above the poverty of his childhood.
