The Winnie-the-Pooh books have always been about finding your inner child. Christopher Robin and his dear Pooh bear have always had the most charming, heartwarming conversations, and we crave more from them. If you are open to refinding this forgotten innocence, you will adore the conversations and little wordplays throughout Return to the Hundred Acre Wood. David Benedictus does an excellent job rediscovering the lost voice of Christopher Robin and all of his forest friends. He is always respectful to the characters, retaining their warmth and each individual voice. I doubt a better sequel could have been written by anyone. And the watercolor illustrations by Mark Burgess are genuine to Shepard's original style and color hues. Any child or child at heart will become lost in this little world of hollow trees and rabbit burrows. Some readers have given Return to the Hundred Acre Wood bad reviews because they complain it's too different from the original books, and then nit-pick debatable lines and interactions between characters. Seems to me that these critics have lost their inner-child and have unfortunately, become far too grown-up to remember the world they used to live in. I found this story to be delightfully, humbly, and respectfully similar to the magical originals. If you truly love the world of the Hundred Acre Wood, and are willing to be open-minded, and hear again that child's voice that you so miss - then you will fall in love with this book. Enjoy!

Pay no attention to all of the Eeyore's and Busy Backson's that have poorly reviewed this book... you'll be very happy to be back in the Wood with Pooh and Piglet along with all of the other denizens. It is great to hear those long-lost voices once again. It's like getting a phone call from an old high-school pal. As I remember: Pooh had asked Piglet to come and stay at his house and they were walking into the Wood together... This is a book for new kids and for old kids who refuse to grow up. Do like me and read the new adventures to your wife in bed every night. Best line?: "Pook and Piglet were sitting together over breakfast at that pleasant time of the day when you know that there is much to be done but not quite yet."

Wanted to add to my collection and see where the story ended up. Avid Pooh fan

This new expansion on the world of Pooh Bear and Christopher Robin is delightful. The language used is extremely close to that of the original Pooh books by A.A. Milne. The drawings are also much like the Shepherd originals. I read the originals aloud to my daughters at bedtime many times when they were young, so I felt the best way to read this new book was also aloud. The book slipped right into the old cadence. The Pooh books are one of my favorites for young children (actually anyone over the age of 2) and this new book did not disappoint. I would recommend it for Pooh lovers of all ages.
