Not as good as the first, but still amazing.

This story was incredible. I have to say that it wasn't as good as the first book, Tahn, but it's definitely up there. I'm truly touched that there is still more to come, and I've only read about nine pages of The Scarlet Trefoil, book three, but I can hardly wait to see what happens. L.A. Kelly, as usual, keeps me turning pages until I'm finished. :) Oh, and I'm also pleased to discover that Tahn's discovery that he had a sister scared me at first, only for me to find out that she wasn't a horrible character with no brains. In fact, she became quite likable. I find that's how a lot of Kelly's characters are. In fact, most of them. Her characters are real, imperfect people with flaws and yet are so sweet and loving you can't help but love them. Read Tahn first.

WOW! You will love this story.

"Return to Alastair" (the second book in this series) is Wonderful! It's 5 stars+. This book was hard to put down and it's loaded with all kinds of adventure, Romance and lessons about life, love and Forgiveness. It is everything a good book should be. Tahn is a Hero who has to overcome much. On the outside, but mostly on the inside. The Author really love's her characters, and you will too.

Forgiveness, pure love, and hidden sins

A trained assassin, controlled by drugs, Tahn could not escape the Lord. In the first book of this edge-of-your-seat series set in the Middle Ages, titled Tahn, we learn how God hunted Tahn down and helped him escape. The breathless plunge from adventure to adventure presented in the first book, continues in this second book, Return to Alastair. Living in peace and joy, aided by a sweet woman's love, Tahn now knows the Lord as his Savior and King. But his past still haunts him. Is it possible that the desperate, murderous nature he once had could return and harm his loved ones? In soul-anguish, Tahn returns to Alastair, the town where he had been known as a despicable person. The town fears him, and fears themselves. But he continues despite great opposition to look for the truth about himself, and his ill-fated family and comrades. Those who read the first book will recognize old friends in Return to Alastair, and will easily follow the plot. Those who are new to this series may become a bit perplexed when the plot relies on knowledge of the first book. L. A. Kelly capably interweaves her story with Christian ideas. Themes woven into this story include forgiveness of self and others, family and comrade love, pure passionate love between man and woman, the rights and wrongs of armed defense, and hidden sins and their fruit. Kelly adroitly builds tension and commands interest with a plot that could easily slip into melodrama, but never does. The characters grow into complete personalities as the book progresses. This is a good read, whether read for adventure or Christian growth, or both. - Donna Eggett, Christian Book Previews.com

exciting romantic fantasy

In the town of Alastair, Tiarra Loble has been brought up on stories about her father and brother, Tahn Dorn, who helped his father kill their mother before the father was killed and her son scarred by burning hot water tossed on him by villagers before he escaped with his uncle. The truth is he was taken when he was four years old and his mentor was an evil sadistic monster who beat him and brought young orphans into his criminal organization. After saving Lord Trilet's family from a nobleman's envy, Tahn broke free of his master and took the children to the estate of the nobleman he saved and where he became the chief guardsmen. Although he is treated as a son by Lord Trilet and everyone expects him to marry Netta the daughter of the house, Tahn needs to go back to Alastair to see if he can find out the truth about his past. The townsfolk revile him, especially his sister, calling him a killer as he goes about asking questions. The bandit leader he once knew wants him dead as Tahn embarrassed him and Lord Trent wants him and his sister dead because they have a very real claim to his title, wealth and estates. Tahn is content to leave his fate in God's hand. RETURN TO ALASTAIR is an exciting romantic fantasy with a protagonist that is easy to love as he proves that evil has no power over goodness once one chooses to accept salvation. As he suffered untold cruelties as a child, a teen and an adult Tahn has the faith that leads him to leave the dark path to that of purity and decency. There is so much action and fantastic character development that readers will hope for a future RETURN TO ALASTAIR. Harriet Klausner
