Book Overview

Although presumed dead in New Frontier #9 and #10, Captain MacKenzie Calhoun makes his return in this third book of the Excalibur trilogy. Unbeknownst to Starfleet, Calhoun escaped the cataclysmic demise of the U.S.S. Excalibur, only to end up marooned on the primitive outback world of Yakaba. There, he eventually befriends Shula, a woman with the strange and inexplicable ability to summon rain for her parched frontier community. Shula's powers, however,...

Peter David does it again!

Peter David has once more taken us on a roller coaster ride as much as any of the Star Trek series and films have. In the series of 11 books you actually care about the characters and the wonderful Star Trek momments they have. The interaction between Shelby and Calhoun is unique and familiar at the same time. Zak Kebron is as interesting as he is funny in his own way. Restoration brings a new Excalibur and brings the crew back together. All in all great Star Trek. Gene would be proud.

An excellent conculsion to the cliffhanger!

I was so annoyed the way the last book in the series left me hanging. But, I can't have been more thrilled with the way Peter David has concluded this trilogy. He wraps up a lot of the loose ends, and introduces some really intrigueing new elements into the New Frontier universe. HIGHLY recommended!

Worth the wait!

I admit -- I've been counting the hours until this one was released. I had a lot of questions left over from books 8, 9, and 10, and Restoration answered all of them. Not only that, it tied up some ends that I didn't even realize needed tying, and it had an UNBELIEVABLY GREAT ending. It also comes with an expanded New Frontier minipedia. Do yourself a favor and don't read it before you read the book -- it gives away plot details.

Absolutely Love It!

This series has, from the beginning, stood head and shoulders above Voyager, and stood firmly beside all of the other series. It is well written, well told, and a great read from beginning to end. Questions are answered re the destruction of the Excalibur, but even more questions are raised about Mark McHenry. How did Calhoun and Shelby launch all of those pods in time? How did Calhoun get to the shuttlebay in time? McHenry's influence, perhaps? Could he be M? Can't wait for the next one to find out more! A great read and a great time!

Fitting end to an excellent trilogy

Peter David has once again written an excellent addition to the New Frontier series. Restoration caught my attention very early, and never let it go, causing me to finish it the same day I bought it. While I do have some concerns over the possible direction that the NF universe is taking, I have no doubt that PAD will put those to rest in the next installment (due out next year). If you haven't read much New Frontier before this, then I may try to convince you to pick up at least some of the previous stories before jumping into this trilogy. If you do follow the New Frontier universe, then this is a must (as many of you probably already felt).
