Good Study Tool

I have read through the book "Respectable Sins" by Jerry Bridges two times this last year. The first time, it was for personal benefit. The second time, I read it along with a group of men to study. We used the study guide to direct our reading and discussion when we met weekly. The study guide has an opening question, some questions for yourself, some questions for your group, and some practical application steps. I highly recommend this guide as a resource for either private or group study. It is easy to use and would be a blessing for a Sunday School class or small group.

only read if you are ready to change your life :)

Jerry Bridges does an amazing job of opening our eyes to the sinfulness of our hearts ... and this discussion guides certainly helps with the journey. It isn't through condemnation but, instead, by delivering both truth and hope, there is a desire ignited within your heart ... a desire to confront sin. Complacency has no place in our lives as Christians and there are no innocent sins. Thank you to Jerry Bridges and to the team that put together this discussion guide!!

Difficult Introspection

The American evangelical church is known for what we tend to be against. We are considered homophobic, and in many cases we are. While it is good to have a stand against what the Bible clearly describes as sin, we also tend to take a firmer stand against the sins that we don't practice. This book forces us to examine our own lives for the sins that the church doesn't rail against. We may not be practicing homosexuals, but are we gossips? We may not struggle with drunkenness, but are we gluttons? Bridges rightly calls us to a biblical definition of holiness which goes far beyond what we have in today's American church.

Great study guide!

Respectable Sins is an excellent book and this study guide is a great companion to force one to think through what was read and apply it to life. I'm currently using this with a small group Bible study and the reading and homework are just the right amount of work for the women and provides topics for deeper conversation and accountability.

Love It!

This study guide and the book that goes with it is truly a great find. It got me form the first chapter and couldn't stop reading! It really makes you think and is food for the mind and spirit!Don't forget the book that goes with it..
