Succeeds in a digital age

Weinstock's Sixth Edition continues the tradition of a white-coat pocket sized book that gets to the heart of clinical challenges quickly. Much of "Resident's Guide" is tabular, all of it in an outline form and therefore "concise" is the term that every reviewer thus far has used. But, concise isn't the real reason that our residents use it. All have hospital provided iPhones loaded with clinical aps, and they certainly use Epocrates and UpToDate regularly as they're connected to our EMR, yet still I see this book peeking out of their pockets and desk drawers. Why? I think it's because they don't need a textbook approach much of the time. They need a memory jog, a checklist and a reassurance they haven't missed something -- and they need it in a hurry. This way they also don't have do ask me, and then get three questions in return. Kudos again to Dr. Weinstock and his crew. Rob Crane, MD Clinical Associate Professor Department of Family Medicine

A Must

I love this book....very useful in clinical and though it is a bit older...it seems that the book is still very current.

a must-have for any beginning clinician

I'm in my 2nd year of an adult nurse-practitioner program, and I wish I would have discovered this book earlier. Lots of useful information that is concise, organized, and easy to read. This and the in-a-page books are always with me!

Resident's Guide to Ambulatory Care

This is an excellent concise explanation of common illnesses/symptoms seen in primary care, along with physical examination findings and treatment options. The book includes great tables and alogrithms to help with diagnoses and treatments. A must have for anyone doing a primary care rotation.

Much impressed

Very impressed with this book. Emphasizes USEFUL information over theory. The kind of quick, need to know, info that interns need quickly. Perfect for interns in all fields related to primary care. Fits in a coat pocket. I use it in the clinic alot. Written by resident's because so many books out there are too theory orientated and not practical orientated. 4 stars.
