Insightful look into the life of religious leaders

Rabbis and all religious leaders are always being asked "Why?" to questions that can not be answered, as if God is responsible for every detail of our lives. But there is no answer nor is there any purpose in life other than to help others cope and live more fully, safer and earnestly. Here we find a wonderfully written book of someone struggling with personal answers while providing the Rabinic facade of knowing professionalism. We also get a glimpse into the realities behind running a religious organization in a book that combines humaness and all the elements of a great story. This book will, in time, become a best seller. I highly suggest you buy several copies and send to your friends, jewish or not.

Rabbi Palmer An Honest Man

Rabbi Reuben Palmer sheds the protection of organized religion to reveal that spiritual leaders share the same flaws and angst as the rest of us. This story has an honesty that resonates long after the book is concluded. I would hope the author continues to develope Rabbi Palmer who although a fictional character reminds us all that even our spiritual leaders share the same torments as those they seek to console. To me Rabbi Palmer and his journey was what took the story beyond the plot line and provided rare insights to the internal politics of the life of any congregation regardless of faith.

Tormented Rabbi meets the Sopranos

Very insightful story about a Cleveland Rabbi who is tormented by a cold father, an indifferent wife, while he struggles in his job to bring solace and comfort to his flock. An unprecedented look into the life of a Rabbi and his job, and the politics of working in a large congregation. With that backdrop, the Rabbi is infatuated with an Italian woman who is trying to escape her past and wants to convert to Judaism. Unwittingly, the Rabbi become entangled in her world, a dark world like the Sopranos. I won't give away the rest of the plot but it is quick-paced as the Rabbi and the Italian woman seek redemption while living in a violent world. Highly recommend to those who like a gripping story, or interested in learning more about the life of a Rabbi and his struggle to lead a diverse flock. For Jews and non-Jews, this fictional Rabbi gives real insight into Temple intrigues of modern Jewish life.
