Book Overview

No story has more significance than this: the death and resurrection of Jesus. But somehow the oft-repeated tale of Christ's passion can become too familiar, too formalized, for us to experience its incredible immediacy. The meditations in Reliving the Passion, which received a Gold Medallion Award in 1993, follow the story as given in the gospel of Mark--from the moment when the chief priests plot to kill Jesus to the Resurrection. Making the Cross Real

This is a series of 40 Lentan devotions--actually very vivid and brilliant insights on the reality of Jesus' dying on the cross. I have a very large library, but I have read nothing better on this theme. I have purchased 6 additional copies as gifts--any will be getting more.

Pure Poetry

This is my third year to read "Reliving the Passion". It is pure poetry at its finest and Walter Wangerin Jr. transports you back to the days leading up to and through the Passion. Add this book to you library and make it a tradition each year at Lent. Also check out his book for Advent!

I could not put this book down - prepare to be changed!

Wangerin's writing style is so refreshing - it brings the story of Christ to life in a new and exciting way. The emotive writing style draws you in as the reader and you cannot put the book away - I read and re-read the crucifixion chapters and came away almost breathless with a renewed sense of what Christ went through for me! The cast of characters that were involved also come to life with all the passion and "realness" of that day.

A "must-read" for all Christians and skeptics

This powerful book transports the reader to Jesus' last week on earth. Wangerin pulls the reader into the emotion and reality of the crucifixion and the events leading up to it. I felt convicted and moved by the sacrifice made on my behalf in a new way. Highly recommended!
