This book proves moving for more money is insane.

I read this book 2 years ago and was stunned by how true its words were...And I've never forgot it! So finally I get around to writing the words I've should have written years ago. We are retired military and have moved for 25 years. And even if I hate to admit it it Mr. Miller is right- its the people that come into your life at a young age that you bond with-that you need around you. As we have moved and have found "aquaintances" verses "refrigerator friends." we've ached for people who are real- people that take off the mask and show their souls...A good book-for people who move alot-b/c it shows us its time to move back home-where we KNOW who fits us...like a puzzle piece lost...a great book!

Great insight

This book is on to something big. It explains what makes so many of us depressed and anxious "for no real reason." Dr MIller not only illustrates how isolation whether self-imposed or forced affects every aspect of our lives but gives real insight into how to find "family."

A Great Book!

This book makes so much sense and offers such a great take on modern life that I can't believe the media haven't discovered it yet and put it on their "must-read" lists. Miller is a great communicator who weaves his own story into a compelling analysis of modern culture. After you read this book, you will be less inclined to watch a TV show and more inclined to do something with a friend. A quick-read...but one that packs a punch!

Sociology Brought to Life

What begins as a thoughtful essay on the roots of our culture's endemic malaise, quickly develops into a compelling call to personal action. Certainly not self-help in the traditional form, but a well-crafted, thought-provoking book that can shake up your self-perspective. I personally don't want too many people rummaging through my refrigerator - but the central premise of the book left me taking stock of my life-relationships, and making practical plans to improve them.

a wonderful, life-altering read

I don't read self-help books, but I read this one because of an interview with Dr. Miller that I saw in a magazine. It has changed my perspective on my life, my friendships and my family. HIghly recommended.
