This is the story of Larkin McKay - the third young man in the Blackthorn Brotherhood. He also has been traumatized by the death of his best friend Tommy Murdock. Now he has a failed marriage behind him and he suffers from the lose of his two children, Justin and Susie who live with their mother in Kansas with her new husband. Larkin runs a center for youngsters to keep them off the streets and out of gangs. He meets Mannie Cervantes who is on the verge of being caught up in a ruthless gang. Lark takes Mannie home where he meets Letitia and her mother-in-law, Rose Cervantes. Quite excellent characters who flesh out the story. Larkin still meets with Devon and Roberto and has some strange things happen when Tommy is mentioned. Letitia and Larkin start to fall for each other but there are many issues that need to be cleared up. And of course, Mannie presents more problems. Justin causes trouble trying to intice his father back to the family. Not going to happen. While Mannie gets into trouble and is being sent to Blackthorn. Lark calls in Devon and Roberto for help. What a mess! And all of a sudden Letitia becomes hysterical. Dumb! Most excellent read - great trilogy. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED --M
