Solution Oreiented

While Newt does a great job of presenting the problems facing Americans and their government, his is the one book that I have read so far, that gives chapter after chapter of practical solution to fix those problems. He has a very positive attitude. Instead of seeing the barrel half empty, he sees it half full, and with his can do attitude believes that with the right solutions, hard work and perseverance it takes to bring about change, we can fill the barrel. His Ideas on real change in areas such as the social security system, income tax reform, a balanced budget and so much more, come from a man who has served for many years in the house or representatives and knows what he is talking about. He is not a neo-conservative, which is a republican who espouses the same ideas as the liberals. Instead he a well read man, who is willing to do the research necessary to garner the facts, with much experience in getting workable solutions through congress and making real change happen in American government.

One of the best Public Policy books ever written

When is America going to wake up and see that we have an absolute genius in our midst in the man Newt Gingrich? No person today has the vision, clarity, soberness, optimism, and mind to articulate the issues and cut through all the misinformation like Newt Gingrich. The absolute irony here is that since he has been demonized by the Left, he is considered a right-wind radical. The ones who would never vote for him (if he ever ran) - poor, minorities - have the most to gain from him. He is their biggest defender and supporter. His call to do away with unionized, failed bureaucracies is what America needs, particularly the poor and the down trodden. These failed instiutions whom he fights against are the very institutions keeping the poor inprisoned. I challenge everyone to read this book, to take the call of action from Newt to reform and transform our America into one that is successful, into one that does not tolerate mediocrity and failure. Whom do we serve, what do we value, and how do we measure achievement? - are the questions that every persons needs to be analyzing for their own answers. Newt is reasonable and fair. He doesn't discriminate between political parties - if they support broken bureaucracies and government policies, then he calls you out. I challenge anyone to argue the principles laid out in this book. They cannot be challenged because the principles talked about here are true. Wake up everyone and read this book!! Buy them as gifts and give them as Christmas presents. For if we reform and take up this challenge the real gift will be given to us and more particularly to our children and their children. This book is worthy of more than 5 stars. Do yourself a favor and read it.

Real change is what I want.

I have read many books recently about the US government which have horrified and depressed me. Horrified because I knew that they were factual and heavilly documented. Depressed me because they offered nothing positive as alternative suggestions. Mr. Gingrich, while he points out negative facts does not leave the reader high, dry and hopeless. He has a positive plan that gives hope to the average citizen, like me. Pat Ribet

Finally, issues raised and solutions suggested...

"The American people are stunningly pragmatic." - from this book, and one of many observations that need to be communicated and understood. The only disappointment is that the appendices might have been many more in number and more detailed. This book may be the Common Sense (Thomas Paine) of our time. The government is broken, in fact corrupted, and the author provides the facts to back up his premise that the bureaucracies at all levels of government are neither of or for the people but rather are working to perpetuate their own existence, destroying America in the process. Then, instead of stopping with gripes about where we are, concepts to address the problems are identified and discussed. The first chapter of this book alone is worth the money and time invested and should be required reading for every taxpayer who is tired of watching our greatness and goodness be put in decline by loud but small fringe groups with narcissism rather than safety, security and prosperity for the whole be the agenda. Other discussions of note include our failed judiciary, the problems with our education system, real environmentalism, and a thoughtful discussion of immigration that finally addresses the desire of most Americans to welcome immigrants, asking only that they abide by our laws. Perhaps this will resonate with Washington which apparently believes that only citizens should be subject to the economic brutality of the IRS and that a blind eye can be turned to illegal status of many immigrants. The solution is in rigorous law enforcement and implementing a viable guest worker program to satisfy the majority of law-abiding citizens and help our economy and our immigrant brothers and sisters. This book both inspires the reader to seek real change to move government to a model that works, and causes concern that the need is urgent, and the alternative, continuing down the path of the status quo, is foreboding.

It's about time someone said this in print

Finally, someone with the credentials to say it has said it! Newt is right on target with "Real Change" and we all need to read this and digest it. He's right, we need to demand results from those we send to Washington. The book takes on the tough issues facing us today, and looks at how and who put us in the tenuous position we find ourselves. Immigration reform is a must, or we're going to lose our country. We must not elect those who would cut and run from the most dangerous war we've been in since WWII. We cannot lose this war as many on the left would have us do. We need tough judges, tax reform and we need to bring religion out of the darkness 10% of those in this country have put it in. The leftists who support these kooks on the far left must be stopped before it's too late. Read every page in this book to understand why change is so very necessary.
