I homeschool my 7 year old son,and this is a great book for him learning science. I have been using it for the last month and my son has learned alot. I would recommend this to anyone that wants there child to learn about science. It teaches everything they need to know for 2nd and 3rd grade.
The do-it-all book!

It is hard to find a science book like this for lower elementary. I did not really want a "textbook" for my 2nd grade homeschooled daughter, but I wanted something more than another science experiment book where I had to do all the explaining. This is very straight forward, requires her to read the information for herself, and includes some kind of experiment with a written exercise. The 27 chapters could easily take you through a school year and could be grouped into units with extra reading from the library.
Science to Grow By!

I love the way this book combines SIMPLE experiments with great information! One of the best science books I've found for the younger elementary grades. Covers many areas with simple to understand language and end-of-section content reviews. Also, the way the book is arranged, it's easy to skip around to different sections depending on what you may be doing in other areas of homeschool at the time. Great supplement to any science curriculum!
