Good therapy suggestions

This guide is short and sweet. It has tremendous ideas delivered with great clarity. I will be using the new language of Irrational Beliefs, Disputing, and Rational Beliefs. I like the section that contrasts with other therapies. This stuff works!

Solid, concise and readable.

The man is full of common sense. I study for pleasure forms of therapy work, and found that this particular method has sound rational charm to it, and this book conveys this concisely and effectively. I do have his Guide to Rational Living and How to Refuse to make yourself Miserable about anything as well. For proper therapists I highly recommend it. For folks that perhaps are a little like me, a little armchair shrink like, I also highly recommend it :-).

REBT Easlily Explained

It's not a very big book, but this slender volume packs a wallop by completely and easily explaining Ellis' Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. This cognitive therapy can be a powerful tool for counselors or for individuals to use on themselves - to learn to challenge irrational thoughts that keep one looping in the same behavioral pattern. This book was written especially for therapists, but could be read by anyone.

A concise, interesting, fast read with a good amount of information

I highly recommend this book for anyone. I am a masters student in counseling psychology, and I ordered this book to write a paper about the therapy. It worked very well (I got an A), it had loads of information, I read the entire book in about 2 hours, and I was not overwhelemed, or left feeling confused. This would also be a great book for anyone just looking to learn more about how to feel better, or think about things in a different way, or people interested in this therapy. I am very happy with this book, and even happier with the price!!

The Practical Therapist Series

While Dr. Ellis has already published many popular books on Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), this book from "The Practical Therapist Series" is targeted to doctors qualified to practice psychotherapy, who have no time to read lengthy popular books. While the audience of this hardcover is health care professionals, I, not being a medic myself, found this work pleasant to read and easy to understand Much of the theory of REBT was derived from philosophy rather than psychology. Dr. Ellis has read many works of ancient and modern philosophers before devising this framework. REBT is cognitive, emotive, and behavioral, and is not by any means strictly "intellectual". REBT states that is not an adversity (A) that negatively affects the human but the belief (B) of the individual about this adversity, that leads to negative consequences (C). These are the simple but most important ABCs of the therapy. Not being a psychotherapy practitioner, I can recommend this book to anyone who is interested in what REBT is.
