"Parenting is not something you do to a child, but a relationship you have with a child." What's in this book: You don't have to get tougher to get more effective. Preface The Business and Personal... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book doesn't get the hype others do, and it doesn't have a catchy title like others have, but I've read a lot of books on parenting (and I'm a psychologist) and I highly recommend this book. If you are tired of fighting with your children, yelling at them, and trying to get them to do what you want, then I recommend this book. Learn how to interact with your child in a way that is more productive and less frustrating for you both.
Awesom book!

I've been having a frustrating time with my son for the past 3 years and wished that I found this book much earlier than I did. This book presents alternative ways of approaching my troubled teen. I have applied some of the techniques; I'm seeing some positive changes only after about 2 to 3 weeks. I really recommend this book and the ideas in it.
Worthy of being on every parents bookcase!

Raising Children You Can Live With is a book many parents can benefit from. Mr.Raser gives many practical suggestions for dealing with kids. I thought his "Strategic Interaction" plan would be helpful for many, and he gives good guidelines for how to deal with lying, cheating, a child who doesn't obey rules, and how to deal with a child who may show signs of depression. Mr. Raser has a great sense of humor, and his use of Calvin and Hobbes comics hooked me, as I'm a long-time fan of that comic strip! I think parents who read this book will find many useful, practical suggestions that will aid them in raising a child they can live with, and as he says, have fun doing it!
Should be in every parent's "arsenal"

Although I usually read parenting books by Brazleton and other highly-publicized authors, a friend recommended that I try this one. I could just kiss her for that. This book isn't a summary of all the parenting advice you've ever heard (what a relief). Mr. Raser tackles issues with teens like a pro, and he would be the only person I know of that could raise a house full of teenagers and still go to bed every night with a smile on his face.
