#8 IN A LONG LINE OF EXCELLENT BOOKS - PHOENIX BROTHERHOOD
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 17 years ago
Here we have a wounded warrior who has wasted 6 years of his life because he couldn't stand to be responsible for another's death. Rafe Sinclair received a warning from the Phoenix Brotherhood leader, Griff Cabot [Men of Mystery #3]that there is a possibility that Jorgensen is still alive and on a killing spree. Griff asks him if he know where Elizabeth Richards is. Rafe swears that Gunther is dead - he watched him die five years ago. One shot, one kill. He goes to warn Elizabeth, his former lover, and her office building blows up. Another mark of Jorgensen's intent to kill. He takes Elizabeth and runs to Virginia, to Cabot's safe house, a man called John Edmonds shows up with a message from Griff and they get shot at. Was John who he claims to be? Elizabeth sustains a gory flesh wound on her left arm. Now all three take off for Griff's Maryland estate. Rafe wanted to know who was setting him up. Who found him expendable? Steiner, who was known for his duplicity or Griff, who wanted this bomber caught? John told them that there was to be a meeting of Griff and Hawk, another legendary assassin waiting for them at the estate. John's is the next story. Hawk revealed a few unknown facts about Rafe to Elizabeth that had tormented her the past 6 years. After following Rafe back to South Carolina She suddenly realizes it wasn't such a good idea. [Finally, a gal who realizes she has caused some danger to him.] Over-all excellent story plot - great characters - great action - great collection. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED --- the set is definitely a keeper.
