Radioman: An Eyewitness Account of Pearl Harbor and World War II in the Pacific

RADIOMAN held my interest better than any WWII history I have read. The story of Ray Daves' role in the Navy leading up to Pearl Harbor and during the rest of the war is a fresh viewpoint that has not been used this effectively. The Time Line and historical notes for each chapter add a huge amount of context and historical detail in a very concise way. The amount of research behind this personal story is very impressive. I gave copies to both of my sons for Christmas.

This is a great read. A heartfelt story of a young man who ended up at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941 and the events that unfolded in his life during the war. A very easy read and nicely done. With pictures.

Truly a well written story of an enlisted man during a time when our country was at war. Great descriptions of what the Navy men went through during that era. I thought the book was great from start to finish.

Radioman is truly amazing - I enjoyed every page and will read it again and again. I can't wait to give my Dad his copy as I am certain he will enjoy it as much as I have. I was left with a feeling of understanding, not just for the World War II veterans, but for all of our military men and women. The author has captured a perspective of an era I have never seen before, not in any of my history classes or conversations I've had. And, all of the notes to refer to - I think I've learned more about World War II from this "masterpiece" than anything else I've been exposed to.

This is a well written, absorbing account of the experiences of one of our vanishing WWII veterans. This would make a great gift, especially to someone of the WWII generation.
