Amazing Book

I was so pleased when I found this book. It was great to continue the story of Buffy and the scoobies...can't wait for the next one!

A solid and entertaining look into the Scooby Gang after Sunnydale.

When I first heard about this book, I was really excited, if not skeptical because Nancy Holder is not known as the best writer of the Buffy series. But nevertheless, I knew I was going to get it as soon as it came out, because I figured it would be better than some of the fanfic and slash out there I had read. As soon as I got it, I started reading. I was enthralled, I definitely couldn't put it down. I was late to work a few times because I just got lost in it. The book is great by itself. I don't really feel the need to criticize very small details like how Ms Holder doesn't really write the character Faith very well, because the story in itself is outstanding. Sometimes it seems like we need more information, especially when characters appear in certain places, but I guess it's not that important. Only complaint I really have is it seems like Faith wasn't in the story enough, and I love her stories. Also -- has anyone else noticed that while Buffy has died twice, Faith hasn't even had a "near-death" yet? I think that should be looked into for the next "season". But I digress. The story in itself is great. It ties in to some of the things that were discussed in Angel, and it's still easy to understand when you don't watch Angel - because I never have. The final battle sounds really exciting. A little hard to believe and it sounds a little easy, but I could see it on my TV. It's exciting. And the end of it is absolutely perfect. I found myself shedding a few tears, the way I do when I watch season finales of the show on TV. So, I definitely recommend this book to fans. It's really nice to hear from our heroes again and to see what they've been doing since Sunnydale. And as the tag-line suggests, Sunnydale was indeed just the warm-up.

Amazing way to continue

This book is just beautiful. Nancy Holder does such an amazing tying together all of the little hints and mentions from Angel season 5 about where Buffy and company are following the series finale, and i really enjoyed how it all played out. And it was really heartwrenching that they finally think they can have a break from evil for a while, but theyre so wrong. I LOVED how Holder handles the fact that Buffy doesnt know Spike is alive. And having Oz return is something they couldnt really do in the end of the series, but it so worked in the book. The appearances of Tara are wonderful. The Immortal story line is done very well, too. I just love this book, and it really made me feel like it was Season 8, and that Buffy wasnt over. I really hope they continue the series in book format if they arent able to ever make a movie/special follow-up. And i hope it will be Nancy Holder who does continue it. As for the ending of the novel, i think its a great way to deal with the Buffy/Angel/Spike story without actually being final. I picked up the book and just couldnt put it down, and the last 20 pages or so had me on the edge of my seat. Nancy Holder, once again you've amazed me.

Queen of the Slayers Rocks!!!

Queen of the Slayers by Nancy Holder is a great book. I recommend any Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan should read this book. She touches on tons of things the show left hanging. She even combines ANGEL with it and makes total sense. You can tell she knew what she was talking about and she actually knew the show. Some books make no sense and aren't like the show, but this one is the best I read so far. I'm a huge Buffy fan, and I couldn't put this book down. I hope she continues to write more on the story. A lot of us fans would have loved for the show to keep going, even though it ended her book keeps it going, and I hope she continues the story and keeps the show alive in book form at least. It's been a long time since I read a good Buffy book, and this one is my favorite.

In the interest of not being slaughtered...

I really loved this Buffy novel. It's probably my single favorite Buffy novel thus far, and I can only hope it's followed up by many, many further novels. That said, I can see why some people wouldn't like it. It doesn't give any real closure to the series at large, and I don't feel Dawn or Faith's characters were done justice. It's very surreal to see Buffy interacting with neither Spike nor Angel. And I don't think the complications with the Willow/Tara/Kenedy triangle were handled well. I don't believe that Xander was slighted in his persona, but I do think more time could have been spent helping him deal with Anya's absence. Now, to those that didn't like the ending of this book, I have to ask: What did you expect? No bridges were burned, which is important. It did, however, definatively answer the question of who Buffy's true love is. I was surprised at the bold and inventive way this was approached! All in all, it's another one out of the park for Nancy Holder! At this rate, we may never know whether she or Christopher Golden is the greater Buffy novelist. Sequel, please?
