Quantum Moon

I fell in love with this series back in the late 1990s because of its interesting premise and read the entire series at least once a year. They are on my `keeper' shelf. I just bought the kindle editions of the two available so they can travel with me. I can't wait for the rest of the series to be `kindle-ized'. Quantum Moon has two powerful strengths: the characters and the world building. Within a few pages, I knew that I liked the characters. They were humans living in a harsh society. Ty Merrick, the main character is an interesting and complex woman, but she is not perfect. She is credible, likeable and down to earth. Denise Vitola has created a marvelous protagonist. In addition, the secondary characters are wonderful. They are well developed and add to the storyline. The world building in this futuristic science fiction is incredible (and yet credible with the possibility it could happen). The dystopian future with its one-world humanitarian government is described in detail showing the day-to-day hardships the characters must face to survive. I have only one thing to say - buy this book (and its sequels)! You will love them, and I'm sure they will stay on your `keeper' shelf as they have on mine.

Quantum Moon portrays a dark intriguing mid-twenty-first century world ruled by tight government control. Appealingly unique characters come to life as the tightly woven, well constructed plot unfolds. A tough, yet vulnerable woman, District Marshal Ty Merrick must investigate a complex murder case, while struggling with her strange condition, lycanthropy. Other credible characters, with names like LaRue and Baba and Gibson, provide a great supporting cast in this futuristic tale. I highly recommend this terrific read.

Denise Vitola weaves a wonderful tale with her heroine, Ty Merrick. She puts you so into the story that you turn pages faster than one normally can text today. Her futuristic world comes alive, the characters chill you to the bone and you, the reader, can hardly breath. I don't know which is worse, being a werewolf or living in Ty's world. But being both is Quantum Moon -- it will grab you, and hold you, until the last page is finished.

Can't afford gas for a summer vacation? Curl up in your favorite lounger with Ty Merrick and be taken on a trip through a future world you won't find on any map. Marshall Merrick has her hands full in a future world where deminishing resources, corruption, and greed interfere with legitimate police work. Oh, and Ty has a health problem--a bad case of lycanthropy. This, of course, makes her job twice as hard as her work seems to be interrupted by her health problems every time the moon is full. Denise Vitola's Quantum Moon is a terrific adventure. Vitola transports you to a dark future world that sounds both exotic and all too familiar. You can almost taste the grit in the air and smell the garbage piling up on the streets. But most of all she makes you feel what Ty feels when her body begins to change when a full moon rises. Make sure a tall, cool one is next to your lounger--you'll read through this one in one sitting.

Ty Merrick is one of my favourite science fiction characters, and Quantum Moon is one of my favourite science fiction books. The setting is excellently done, with an admirable blend of the familiar and the exotic. The heroine, Ty Merrick, is tough, admirable, and believable. Vitola shows a keen understanding of superstition and mythology. I highly recommend this novel.
