Psalms for Young Children

I had borrowed this book from the library for my three-year-old twins and found that it was so beautiful I wanted them to own it. The drawings are lovely, but the translations of the psalms into child-accessible language and ideas is truly inspired; it gave me new understanding of the psalms and their order and interrelationship.

This book was purchased for a 4 1/2 year old who loves the Psalms. She is crazy about it, and only reluctantly shares it with her 7 year old brother, who has asked for his own copy if she will not let him use it. I simply don't understand the folks who said they don't like the illustrations (some on other websites); everyone my daughter shows this book to (i.e. everyone who comes to the house), immediately comments on the beautiful illustrations! The language is just right for this age group, but does not "dumb down" the emotional depths of the Psalms. The print size is large and friendly. We just need a "volume 2" -- not every Psalm that shows up in church is in the book.

Psalms for young children has been written so that children understand what the basic context is meant to say. The book is handy during prayer time, each psalm can be included along with their prayers. I recommend this book for both parents and grandparents.

I bought this book for use in our Sunday school. The younger children have been able to use this to read the Psalms in church. The illustrations are beautiful. The language is simple and direct but conveys the meaning of the Psalms. I am purchasing another copy for my sister-in-law to use at her church.

We borrowed this book from the library and my kids loved it. They, ages 8, 6, and 4, took turns reading the Psalms. We finished the book much to the dismay of especially my oldest, he cried! So, I bought it for them for Christmas. The book came promptly and in great condition. I'm sure we'll enjoy for generations.
