I've read other books by Laurel Dewey and enjoyed them tremendously...but her debut fictional work is outstanding. She already had the rhyme and rhythm, the skill of making her words link together in a style that kept one reading on and on. The drama, human foibles and mystery make her first novel one that moved me greatly. Her research was tremendous and thorough. I'm now anxious to read the second, third and hopefully...

I could not put this book down. A paranormal mystery with a lot of intricate relationships thrown in. I can't wait for Ms. Dewey's next book.

I do not want to give away the plot to this amazing book so all I will say is Laurel Dewey is a brand new author that will give Grisham, Stuart Woods and James Patterson a run for their money. I am a mystery fan and this is the best mystery I have read in years and years, perhaps ever!

I am not your typical murder mystery reader. That being said, Protector held my interest and kept me turning pages and I could not wait to get back to the book when I had to put it down. I use to live in Denver so it was fun to recall the locations mentioned and understand how small towns really are. The characters were real and the circumstances believable. The acceptance of something to which we may not be familiar with...

I don't remember ever feeling so excited about a book! I could not put it down and finished it in 24 hours! I lived where the plot took place and that was doubly exciting, to feel such nostalgia about Colorado and Denver in particular. This was so cleverly written, it held my interest from the first to the very last page and I still can't get over how invigorating it was to read such a well-written mystery with its twists...
