Promises of the Heart by Elaine Overton released on Mar 28, 2006 is available now for purchase. This description may be from another edition of this product.
Picture this, downtown Detroit on a Friday afternoon, a flashing red, vintage Corvette swerves to miss two pedestrians, and collides with a dumpster. This sets up a meeting between down-on-her-luck mechanic Callie Tyler and powerful financial mogul, and dangerously handsome, Julian Cruise. Callie has been struggling to keep her financially strapped garage out of bankruptcy, with the help of her only relative, an enigmatic and overtly colorful cousin. He is the reason she was in the way of the oncoming vehicle in the first place. And now she faces more trouble; a reckless endangerment lawsuit or a deal with the devil. Julian pampers that Corvette more than he pampers a woman, and it has just been wrecked. With his regular mechanic going out of town, he must entrust his 'baby' to one of his mechanic's apprentices. Grudgingly Julian agrees, but when an unsuspecting Julian arrives at Tyler's garage expecting a man, he discovers the mechanic is his new adversary; the same petite four foot eleven, sultry eyed vixen that caused all of this. With the turbulent emotions Callie is stirring, Julian may need to push his Corvette to the back of his mind; he could be primed for another collision. PROMISES OF THE HEART was an entertaining story. Ms. Overton shares this uncharacteristic tale with just enough drama and humor to keep the juices flowing and the heart pounding. The primary characters were adequately matched adversaries, but the secondary characters were the secret ingredient to help make the story linger. A good book to read.

Callie Tyler meets wealthy business man Julian Cruise in fender bender caused by her cross dressing cousin "Pooky." The story takes off when Callie takes on the job of fixing Julian's prized vintage car. The chemistry between Julian and Callie is very steamy especially since they are an unlikely couple. A wonderful read.
I think I've discovered yet another talented author....

Elaine Overton's "Promises of The Heart" was a refreshingly wonderful romance book. I was kind of hesistant about venturing away from my normal romance authors, but, I am actually pleased that I did. The story of Callie Tyler, who is a small, petite, yet boisterous female who is not looking for love or sex... but finds it when the tall, handsome, and arrogant Julian Cruise literally flies right past her...and crashes into a dumpster trying to avoid hitting the flamboyant cousin Pooky, who is Physically still a man but one wouldn't know unless he spoke or was directly in your face. Well needless to say, once Callie and Julian see each other sparks follow immediately between the two. Callie just wants to be loved, pleased, and accepted by Julian...but he wants to love, please, yet...change her. Not only that drama but the drama of Callie's step-brother adds more fuel to the fire. Can Julian accept this little fire engine for all of her characteristics before its too late or will something bad happen to her before he gets the chance...well you'll just have to read "Promises of The Heart" to find out. Keep reading my fellow book lovers! Love, Peace, and Good Reading! LLP
Wonderful Story

The story of Callie and Julian was a wonderful treat for the brain and eyes. I read the book over 4 nights. Callie is a strong character with flaws and a wonderful heart. Julian was a wonderful decent character, who knew that Callie was the woman for him, while he was going in and out of conciousness. The story was well written and believable. I have met men like Julian that wants to change a woman into what they think that she should be to fit his lifestyle. Only the strong women like Callie have survived and maybe changed just a tad for the better. Kudos the the author who wrote a meaningful love story.
The Battle of Wills

Straight laced, strong, powerful, no-nonsense by the book Julian Cruise does not believe in taking no for an answer. On the flip side of the coin pint size Callie Tyler refuses to let her four foot, eleven inch frame hinder her from being the best she can be. Julian has always had every thing he ever wanted; Callie who belives in "Heart Promises" is fighting to hole on to what she has. A late night car crash pits these two strong wilded people against each other, bringing into play friends and family from both sides. Who will win this battle of wills, Julian with his I'm the man I should take care of you attitude or Callie with her except me for who and what I am attitude. Promises of the Heart delves into drug addiction, family love , and raising a teenager. Ms Overton weaves it all together giving each character a strong sense of him/her self allowing you too believe in their hurt, and feel their pain.
