Quickly tap the enhanced power, performance, and extensibility of Microsoft Access 2000 with this in-depth developer's guide. Whether you're extending an existing database or developing a... This description may be from another edition of this product.
I am what may be described as a `power user' and have developed a couple of Access applications for my consultancy in the past that were heavily dependent upon macros. Having a requirement for a new extensive application I was keen to adopt a more procedure-orientated approach to its design. I bought this book as a guide and have found the chapters dealing with the introduction to VBA and Access procedures particularly logically in approach and easy to follow. In my experience this is an excellent book for those making the migration from power user to new developer.
Excellent Book for Access Programming

I have been teaching Access programming for 4 years. Since I use this book, I have learned a lot, and all of my students love this book. This books has many very valuable examples, also it covers ADO topics in detail. This book impresses me the most is that it covers progmming topics in depth. If you want to learn progmming in Access, this is the right book for you.
An Access 2000 programming page-turner.

I bought three Access 2000 programming books so I could spend the next few months learning ADO and the new stuff in the 2000 version. Only Dobson's went directly to the point. After going through 1/5th of the book I have done about 30 little procedures, most of them using ADO techniques when appropriate. Imagine the rest...Lot's and lot's of code samples to learn from and explore, I love it! After a brief introduction to VBA, you'll quickly (unlike other books in the same category) explore the ADO new model with practical samples using table, SQL, forms, reports and much more. Highly recommended. Thanks Mr. Dobson.
High Quality

This is a high quality book. It is a joy to read something this well conceived and executed. The book's approach enables programmers with little Access experience to quickly absorb the essentials of programming an Access database.I suspect (although I don't know) that the more advanced topics in the book are also of high quality.
This book is a must for your library.

Whether you are a beginning Access programmer, or a seasoned veteran in Access and Visual Basic, this book is a must for your library. Amazingly this book offers something for everyone. Although not designed for the casual end user, anyone interested in developing more sophisticated applications in Access will find this book to be a good guide. For the beginner it presents an orderly explanation of the basic principles of VBA programming with great clarity. For the intermediate to advanced programmer it also provides depth as well as an explanation of the new features in Access 2000. It is always a challenging task to keep up with all the new technology. For everyone it offers good examples of how to accomplish the task at hand. Without a doubt this is the best book currently available for Access 2000 programming.
